Software Camtasia
Screen recording and video editing for study and teaching.
With the TechSmith Camtasia video software, screen content as well as video and audio feeds can be recorded and edited on your own computer. The software is suitable for creating videos for digital teaching, training courses or webinars, for example.

Access and requirements
Camtasia individual licenses are available as rental licenses and can be used by all teaching staff at Heidelberg University. The license year lasts from 01.04. to 31.03. of the following year.
Ordering
- Download the 30-day trial version of Camtasia from the manufacturer's website. Then fill out the linked order form. You will then receive the license key in digital form: With this key you are able to convert the installed trial version into a full version.

Introductory courses
The manufacturer's web-based introductory courses are ideal for beginners to get an overview of the range of functions. Current dates for these courses can be found on the manufacturer's website, as well as recordings of past events.
- Participation in the introductory course (or watching the recording) is strongly recommended before ordering.

Cost
The costs for a license can be found in the linked order form. The annual rental fees are payable for the entire current license year, which always ends on the following 31.03., regardless of when the order is placed.
The license is automatically renewed unless it is terminated. The notice period is 8 weeks to the end of the license year.
Technical information
As a free open source alternative, you can also use the OBS Studio tool, which is available for Windows, MacOS and Linux. OBS Studio is more suitable for advanced users and does not offer an integrated video editing option.
