ServiceConference accounts
User internet access for conferences and other events
Conferences need quick and reliable internet access on site. Therefore, in many of the University's facilities, the worldwide eduroam network is available for conference participants of events (co-)organized by the University. For participants who cannot access eduroam, the URZ will provide individual conference accounts upon request by a conference organizer or IT representative.

Use
Conference participants
These accounts are valid for the duration of the event (organized or co-organized by the University) and allow the user to access the Wi-Fi network “UNI-WEBACCESS”, provided that it is not restricted to a specific group of users. You do not need to install any additional software to use these conference accounts.
Access and requirements
A conference account can only be issued if the Wi-Fi network “UNI-WEBACCESS” is available at the conference venue. If Wi-Fi is not available, with timely planning the URZ can support the organizers by installing a conference LAN. For more information, please refer to “LAN and Wi-Fi for conferences” linked under “Additional information”.
For small events of up to 10 people, participants can use the public Wi-Fi "Heidelberg4you", which the University offers in cooperation with the city of Heidelberg. For conferences at the University Hospital, they can use the patient Wi-Fi.
Requests
The accounts can only be requested by the conference managers via the IT representative of the institution where the event is taking place or that is organizing the event. All participants will receive their own account name and password. The password cannot be changed. If a password change is necessary, the account will be closed, and the participant will receive a new account. You can submit a request for internet access for conferences using the linked form.
Request time frame
It will take some time to process your request, so please make sure to submit it at least 15 workdays (~3 weeks) before your event takes place. If you request the accounts on short notice, we will try our best to provide them in time but cannot guarantee that they will be ready for your event.
Accounts and passwords
The person sending the request is responsible for distributing the accounts to the participants. To aid in this process, we will provide an Excel or CSV file listing all accounts and passwords, which you can easily use to create badges or info sheets to hand out at your conference. If there are any inquiries, the person sending the request must be able to name all account recipients. By using the account, the account recipients accept our Terms of Use.
