How-toWake-on-LAN

This how-to describes how university staff members can use “Wake-on-LAN” to start your computer at predetermined times via the network. This function is particularly useful when this is not possible or flexible enough with BIOS.

Requirements

  • Your (institute) network must be enabled to use Wake-on-LAN.
This can be requested by your IT/EDP representative / network administrator using a ticket (no specialized form required) under the designation network/VLAN.
  • Your computer must be appropriately configured for Wake-on-LAN in BIOS
  • Your computer must remain connected to a power source.
  • You will need the MAC and IP addresses of your computer's network card. If you are unsure of how to find this information, your administrator should be able to help you with this.

Wake-on-LAN

1. Log in to the Windows terminal server “ts-mita” with your employee username. If you are unsure of how to do this, the linked How-to can help you.

2. Go to "Start", then select “Aquila Technology” and then "Wake-on-LAN".

Gehen Sie unter „Aquila Technology“ zu „WakeOnLAN“

3. (First time:) Create an entry for your computer with the help of your MAC and IP addresses.

4. Turn the computer on by right clicking on the computer icon and selecting "Start".
