Information security in transition: bwInfoSec promotes knowledge exchange through public events

The topic of information security is important for universities because it not only reflects current technological developments, but also addresses fundamental issues of security and efficiency in IT infrastructure. The lecture series provides practical insights into the secure use of technologies in educational institutions and promotes understanding of IT security strategies. The events thus also provide a holistic view of the topic of information security from a technical and theoretical as well as an organizational and practical perspective.

How colleges and universities must respond to changes in information security

The bwInfoSec-Talks focus on technical or overarching organizational topics related to information security, this time with a special emphasis on colleges and universities. These institutions face the challenge of adapting to the fast-paced digital world while preserving their freedom of research and teaching, i.e., without having to accept any restrictions. They must identify and overcome security risks and incidents at an early stage. To this end, the presentations will introduce various concepts that include both preventive and reactive elements in order to prevent security attacks of various kinds in advance and to be adequately prepared for possible security attacks if they are successfully carried out. By combining these strategies, universities can strengthen their resilience to cyberattacks and ensure their future viability.
