How-toSet up power saver mode on Windows and MacOS

This how-to describes how to activate and set up power saver mode on your PC on Windows or MacOS.

Power saver mode is especially useful for short breaks. The computer does not shut down completely as the RAM remains active and continues to be supplied with power. However, energy consumption is very low.

On Windows:

1. Right-click on the Windows button, which is found on the bottom left of your screen.

2. Select "Power Options".

Select “Power Options”_DE

3. You can now decide when the screen will turn off and the computer will enter power saver mode after a certain period of inactivity.

Set period of inactivity_DE

On MacOS:

1. Click on the Apple icon in the top menu bar and select “System Preferences...”.

2. Click on the light bulb icon with the text "Energy Saver", which can be found in the second row.

3. A new window will open. In this window, move the slider to set the time after which the monitor will automatically shut off.
Under "Schedule", you can set when you want your MacBook to automatically enter sleep mode or shut down. To do this, check the box next to “Activate Sleep Mode” and choose the exact time and option you want to occur.

For laptop computers, there will be separate options for when it is plugged in and when it is running on its battery. You may also select other options, such as "Slightly dim the display while on battery power".

IMPORTANT: Please note that when using Energy Saver mode, data may be lost in the event of a power failure or when the battery dies.
