In the era of digital transformation, research needs a coordinated environment. To achieve this, powerful infrastructures and tools that ensure the storage, management and security of research data throughout its lifecycle play a crucial role. The long-term, sustainable and transparent accessibility and availability of data facilitate scientific progress. They are important conditions for quality assurance and interdisciplinary and international cooperation in the research and education community.

Research Data Management
The Competence Center for Research Data, which is operated jointly by the University Library and the URZ, regularly offers workshops and training courses on the topic of research data management. Individual consulting appointments can also be arranged.
In the offered workshops, beginners and advanced users can learn everything they need to know about using our high performance system, which is part of the implementation concept for high performance computing in Baden Württemberg bwHPC.

The Community Forum Data-Intensive Computing (DIC) is an exchange and information meeting for current and future users of DIC services of Heidelberg University.
Events for the advancement of young students
As a "future day for girls", Girls' Day offers schoolgirls the opportunity to learn about careers in IT, skilled trades, natural sciences and technology. The URZ has participated in this campaign for several years, presenting the role of a university computing center to the participants and imparting knowledge on various IT topics through practical beginner courses.
Student Cluster Competition
Every year in June, the University Computing Centre participates in the Student Cluster Competition at the ISC High Performance in Frankfurt am Main with a team of students. Twelve teams from universities around the world compete against each other in the task of building a high-performance computing cluster.
