ProjectbwHPC-C5
Cross-university support for users of HPC systems in Baden-Württemberg
The bwHPC-C5 project (Coordinated Compute Cluster Competence Centers) serves as a bridge between researchers and high-performance computing (HPC) systems in Baden-Württemberg. Users of HPC systems receive statewide assistance due to cross-institution coordination of support measures. With the introduction of HPC competence centers, experts are brought into contact with each other on a professional and technical level. The work of bwHPC-C5 strengthens the connection between scientific communities and the HPC systems in Baden-Württemberg and also increases the visibility of these systems.
Furthermore, the project evaluates innovative HPC technologies in collaboration with users and implements the necessary steps for integration to adapt HPC systems to the present state of science and its demands. The bwHPC-C5 project is not an independent initiative but rather part of the ongoing implementation concept bwHPC for high-performance computing in Baden-Württemberg.
Status and duration
The project has now been completed, and the work has been taken up by the successor project bwHPC-S5.

Funding
The project bwHPC-C5 was funded by the Ministry for Sciences, Research and Arts of Baden-Württemberg (MWK). Additionally, this project received limited start-up financing from the Innovation and Quality Fund (IQF) of the MWK to help shorten the start-up phase which resulted from changes in the operating concept under the bwHPC concept.
