ProjectbwFDM

A support and development project for research data management

The project bwFDM is the Baden-Württemberg state initiative for research data management (RDM) and is structured into five units:

  1. Networking with RDM participants both within and outside of Baden-Württemberg
  2. Coordinating support for the Baden-Württemberg research data strategy
  3. Management and further development of the central German-language information platform on research data management: forschungsdaten.info
  4. Consulting and training on RDM for higher education institutions in Baden-Württemberg, e.g. development of a help desk and a BW RDM certificate course
  5. Planning and hosting the conference “E-Science-Tage”

During the lifetime of the project, parts of the preceding projects will be continued: forschungsdaten.info will be further developed both in terms of content and technology. This includes the expansion and diversification of the editorial team, the design of new content such as new scientific fields and the planned bilingual implementation (German/English), which will contribute to the internationalization and expansion of the available information. The upcoming E-Science Days will be held in a hybrid format to further establish itself as a central German RDM conference by increasing its attractiveness, and thereby enabling nationwide exchange of knowledge and experience.

The new tasks of the project include the conception and realization of a certificate course tailored to those interested in RDM in Baden-Württemberg, the development and implementation of a BW RDM help desk as well as coordinating support for the implementation of Baden-Württemberg’s future research data strategy with various participants from politics, science and infrastructure.

As with the predecessor projects, the state initiative also attaches great importance to the reusability of the created materials and will therefore publish them in accordance with Open Science principles: For example, materials developed in the context of in-house training courses will be made available as OER for subsequent use.
