Project bwOSLMS

Cross-university further development of the open source learning management systems (LMS) ILIAS and Moodle.

As part of the bwOpenSource Learning Management Systems (bwOSLMS) implementation project, the two learning management systems Moodle and ILIAS are being further developed on a sustainable basis. The project is being carried out as part of the dialogue process “Future Lab: Universities in the Digital World” in cooperation with the universities of Baden-Württemberg and the Baden-Württemberg University Network for the Digitization of Teaching (HND-BW), under the consortium leadership of the University of Stuttgart.

The University of Heidelberg is developing possible concepts for interface solutions that will enable the integration of Moodle with the CAMPUSonline campus management system. These include, for example, the automatic generation of course rooms in Moodle and the direct import of students who are registered for these courses.

Together with the University of Tübingen, which is pursuing the same goal with the HISinOne campus management system, analyses are being carried out and use cases developed in an iterative process in order to identify possible prototypical solutions for linking LMS and CMS. At the same time, existing modules are being tested for functionality and feasibility.
