How-To Change password from Uni ID and other user IDs
Changing passwords for Uni-ID / project numbers and MFA / tokens
This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to change the password for your Uni ID, Project Number, or Functional Account using an online form. This is demonstrated using a Project Number.
Change password
Please note: Please consider the password guidelines when setting or changing your password. You must also be logged into the university network to access the form. More information about the university network and VPN setup can be found in the link bar.
1. Open the online form for changing your password.

2. Log in with your username and current password.

3. Enter your current password again in the top bar.
4. Then enter your new password below. Repeat your entry to ensure that you have entered your new password correctly.
Note: Please observe the password guidelines described below, which are also listed in the form and screenshot.

5. Once the process has been successfully completed, you will receive confirmation that your password has been changed.

Password guidelines
The password guidelines, which came into effect on January 1, 2020, stipulate the following rules for setting passwords:
- The password must be at least 12 and no more than 45 characters long
- The first character of the password must be a letter
- No umlauts (ä, Ä, ö, Ö, ü, Ü, ß)
- The password must not contain your first or last name or your ID, either in upper or lower case
In addition, the password must contain at least three of the following categories of permitted characters:
- Uppercase letters: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z
- Lowercase letters: a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z
- Numbers: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
- Special characters: -,!,?,$,&,*,+,#,%
