Prof. Dr. Vincent Heuveline is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the University Computing Centre and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Heidelberg University. In his role as professor, he leads the Engineering Mathematics and Computing Lab (EMCL) at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR). In addition, he is in charge of the Data Mining and Uncertainty Quantification team at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS gGmbH). His research interests include scientific computing, high performance and data-intensive computing as well as software development with a particular focus on medical technology and energy research. During his lectures and seminars, he not only devotes himself to scientific computing but also to the subject of IT security. Prof. Heuveline is a member of several program committees that organize international conferences on high performance computing. Due to his expertise, he advises representatives from industry on the use of numerical simulations, cloud computing and IT security in industry.
