ProjectbwHPC-S5

Bridging the gap between researchers, HPC systems and statewide storage systems

bwHPC-S5 (Scientific Simulation and Storage Support Services) serves as a bridge between researchers and high-performance computing (HPC) as well as statewide storage systems (LSDF) in Baden-Württemberg. Users of these systems receive statewide assistance due to cross-institution coordination of support measures. Support services are offered by subject-specific competence centers, whether the topic is related to HPC, data or a combination of both.

The primary goal of the bwHPC-S5 project is to support the implementation of the upgraded and merged bwHPC and bwDATA concepts. This includes establishing an integrated statewide computing and data infrastructure, increasing efficiency and effectiveness by providing first-class support to researchers and users and continuously developing the bwHPC and data services as well as their associated infrastructure.

Additionally, the project will undertake need-driven, collaborative technology evaluations to build the requisite expertise for the next generation of HPC and data systems and to pave the way for the provision of software on new architectures. We devote special attention to public relations in order to reach as wide an audience as possible.
