ProjectbwFDM-Communities

Identifying and facilitating the best support solutions for research data management

Good research data management enables the easy use and sustainable storage of all kinds of scientific data. Due to the rapidly growing volume of data, its diversity and numerous analysis options, the importance of research data management has seen a significant increase in most scientific disciplines. Even funding providers such as the EU and the DFG have recognized this and are becoming ever more willing to provide the necessary support.

One major issue is that researchers often do not have enough time and resources to prepare high-quality data and make it available to others in the long term. The goal of the state project bwFDM-Communities was therefore to assess the scientific community's need for support on the topic of research data management in Baden-Württemberg and to identify and provide the best support solutions. The direct involvement of the state's research groups served to guarantee the practical relevance and high application breadth of already available as well as new solutions through direct feedback from researchers. Based on the needs identified in bwFDM-Communities, the support project bwFDM-Info was created.

This project ran from January 2014 to June 2015 and is now complete. Its follow-up project is bwFDM-Info.
