Multifunctional card for students
The Student ID is a multifunctional card issued to all students of the University.
In addition to the name and a photo of the card owner, there is a unique combination of letters and numbers (e.g. xy123) printed on the card that is specifically assigned to an individual for identification within the University. The Uni ID allows the user to access a variety of (digital) services offered by the University.
- All in one: With this card, Students can use services from the University, Studierendenwerk and public transportation. The card serves as a student ID, a library card, a canteen card, etc.
- It also allows you to use the copiers, scanners, and printers available for student use on campus.
- The card grants you access to the University's sport and exercise courses.
- The ID card is valid as a transport ticket in the Rhine-Neckar transport network (VRN) not including West Palatinate from 19:00 on weekdays and anytime on weekends. This requires the renewal of the thermostrip at the validation stations once a semester.
Access and requirements
The card can be used in the cafeteria immediately after you receive it.
Other functions related to the Uni ID printed on the card must first be activated. Your Uni ID is activated by replacing the activation code that the card holder received upon enrollment with an individual, secret password. This process can be completed via the linked web form.
In order to pay with the card, it must be charged. The card can be charged with cash, EC/credit card or online via the linked CampusCard charging portal of the Studierendenwerk. The most recent transactions and the current balance of the card can be viewed at the Studierendenwerk recharging stations.
At the end of each semester, the validity of the student ID card must be extended. For this purpose, special validation stations are available in the Studierendenwerk facilities, which print the new date of expiration on the card’s thermostrip and ensure that the various card functions can also be used during the next semester.
