09. Juni 2026 - climate protection URZ takes part in the STADTRADELN 2026 challenge

Travel made climate-friendly: Over 21 days, the STADTRADELN 2026 competition aims to cover as many kilometres as possible by bike. We – the URZ team – are also taking part in this nationwide campaign from 8 June to 28 June, pedalling for sustainable mobility, climate protection and quality of life.

As part of the annual STADTRADELN campaign, local authorities, institutions, businesses and citizens are setting an example for environmentally friendly mobility. Since 2008, the campaign has been encouraging people across Germany – and, since 2017, in international twin towns too – to cycle for their everyday journeys. The aim of this campaign is to contribute to reducing CO2 emissions and to raise awareness of climate-friendly mobility. STADTRADELN also targets local politicians by showing how many people already cycle regularly and by emphasising the importance of well-developed cycle paths. Every kilometre cycled counts – for the climate, for our own health and for more liveable cities.

The URZ is also taking part in the campaign again in 2026. As a central service provider at Heidelberg University, we see sustainability as part of our social responsibility. That is why the URZ is participating in STADTRADELN for the second year in a row. With every kilometre cycled, we contribute to climate-friendly mobility, ease traffic congestion, promote our health and, together, send a clear message in support of a liveable and sustainable city. Through our participation, we are united in supporting an initiative that combines concrete climate action with community engagement.
