How colleges and universities must respond to changes in information security

The bwInfoSec Talks focus on information security topics with a particular emphasis on colleges and universities. These institutions face the challenge of adapting to the fast-paced digital world while preserving their academic freedom in research and teaching, that is, without having to accept any restrictions. They must identify security risks early on and find ways to address them. To this, the presentations will introduce various concepts that incorporate both preventive and reactive elements. The goal is to prevent security attacks of all kinds in advance and at the same time to be adequately prepared for potential security attacks should they be successfully carried out. By combining these strategies, colleges and universities can strengthen their resilience against cyberattacks and ensure their future viability.

IT security in transition: bwInfoSec promotes knowledge exchange through public events

IT security is important for universities because it not only reflects current technological developments but also addresses fundamental issues of security within IT infrastructure. The lecture series provides practical insights into the secure use of (new) technologies at educational institutions and promotes an understanding of IT security strategies. Thus, the events provide a comprehensive view of the topic of information security from technical, organizational, and practical perspectives.
