Kurzanleitung

Für den Anschluss an das Tagungsnetz der Universität Heidelberg.

• WICHTIG: Achten Sie darauf, dass Ihr Betriebssystem möglichst auf dem aktuellsten Stand ist. Achten Sie darauf, dass Sie einen Virenscanner mit regelmäßiger Aktualisierung und gründlichen Prüfoptionen auf Ihrem Rechner installiert haben.
• Installieren/aktivieren Sie Ihre Netzwerkkarte und stellen Sie diese auf "IP-Adresse automatisch beziehen" (DHCP).
• Bei WLAN-Nutzung: Unsere Netzkennung (SSID) ist "UNI-WEBACCESS" ohne VPN (bzw. "UNI-HEIDELBERG" mit VPN, wo WEBACCESS nicht vorhanden ist).
  Optionen zum "sicheren Funklan" (WPA/802.1x/802.11i) verwenden wir derzeit nicht: Bitte achten Sie selbst auf ausreichende Verschlüsselung.
• Damit können Sie die folgenden Internet-Dienste nutzen:
  • WWW: http und https
  • Email-Lesen: pop, spop, imap, imaps
  • ACHTUNG: Zum Versenden von Email - sofern man nicht Webmail benutzt - muss der folgende SMTP-Server ("Postausgang") eingestellt werden:
    extmail.urz.uni-heidelberg.de
  • SSH, MS-RDP und VPN (IPsec)
  • H.323 und SIP mit den UDP-Portbereichen 3230-3233(3237) (Polycom), 5010-5015 (HiPath), 8000-8002(8015) (sipgate), 16400-16402 (iChat)
• Wenn Sie einen Cisco-VPN-Client installiert haben und über eine Uni-ID bzw. URZ-Nutzerkennung verfügen, können Sie die VPN-Verbindung aktivieren und weitere Dienste nutzen.

Quick instructions

For connecting to the University of Heidelberg's conference network

• IMPORTANT: Make sure that your operating system is updated to the most current version possible. Make sure that you have installed a virus scanner on your computer with regular updates and a full array of scan options.
• Install/activate your network card and set it to "obtain IP-address automatically" (DHCP).
• For WLAN users: Our network ID (SSID) is "UNI-WEBACCESS" without VPN (or "UNI-HEIDELBERG" with VPN, where WEBACCESS ist not available).
  At this time we are not employing options for "secure wireless LAN" (WEP/WPA/802.1x/802.11i): Please take your own precautions with regard to sufficient encryption.
• You will be able to use the following Internet services:
  • WWW: http und https
  • Read Email: pop, spop, imap, imaps
  • NOTE: In order to send Email - if not using Webmail - the following SMTP-Server ("outgoing mail") must be entered:
    extmail.urz.uni-heidelberg.de
  • SSH, MS-RDP and VPN (IPsec)
  • H.323 and SIP with the above listed UDP port ranges,
• If you have installed a Cisco-VPN-client and have an "Uni-ID" or URZ (University of Heidelberg computation center) username, you can activate the VPN-connection and use additional services.
